The historical city of Melaka/Malacca (in Bahasa Melayu and English, respectively) holds within its walks a long, eventful history involving peoples from all over the world. From its establishment as a port in the 14th century, it has seen visitors and immigrants from all over the world on its shores--the most important being the Chinese, Indians, Portugese, Dutch and British along with the native Malays.
